Getting enough sleep feels invigorating and helps you withstand the challenges of the day.  Its benefits include helping brain function, reducing stress, improving mood, supporting weight control, and nourishing physical health.

Did you know that good sleep habits and proper rest are also vital for strengthening the immune system?

Our bodies produce cytokines, a protein that targets infection and inflammation, which create an immune response. T-cells (white blood cells) are also produced during sleep and play a critical role in the body’s immune response to infectious diseases.

Ideally, adults require seven to nine hours of quality sleep to recharge and to keep our immune system strong.  Jennifer Rose V. Molano, MD and associate professor at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine recently stated during an interview that prioritizing sleep and allowing your body to rest can fuel your resilience, especially during this difficult time of COVID19.

Falling and/or staying asleep is not always easy, of course.  Sometimes we unintentionally disturb our own sleep as well.

Exercising too close to bedtime, smoking and drinking alcohol late at night, certain medications, stress, caffeine intake, staring at your phone or computer, and a room not dark enough are just a few of the things that can prevent you from drifting off to sleep.

Other factors that commonly affect sleep capacity include allergens in the room, the temperature of the room, melatonin deficiency, and snoring.

Here are some things to consider when establish better sleep habits:

Create Consistency – Setting a sleep routine of going to bed and waking up at the same time every day promotes better sleep.  Eliminating naps, or at least limiting them to less than thirty minutes, will also help maintain a consistent sleep schedule.

Let Go of the “Catch-Up-on-Sleep” Myth – Too much sleep throws off this consistency even more, making it more difficult to find quality sleep the following night.

Environment Matters – Your place of sleep is relevant to your quality of sleep.  More restful sleep tends to take place in a quiet, dark, and cool room.  Blackout curtains, a sleep mask, earplugs, or a humidifier (or fan) can help create the ideal sleep space.

The Darker, the Better – As mentioned above, light is an important factor when it comes to sleep.  Your circadian rhythm (internal body clock) is trained to respond to light. Before the age of technology, peoples’ sleep-wake cycles were tuned to the natural day-to-night cycle of the sun.  When the sun goes down, your brain releases melatonin to help promote tiredness and incentive falling asleep.  When the sun rises, your body releases chemicals that promote wakefulness.  This is why even a small amount of artificial light at night can disrupt normal sleep.

If you struggle to get a good night’s sleep, you are not alone. That’s why thousands of sleep sufferers have turned to Sleep Connection for help.

Our sleep solutions were specifically created for people who experience a lack of sleep or proper sleep needed for good health.

Silence the Snoring:

We engineered the Anti-Snore Wristband.  It has a scientifically designed biosensor that detects and distinguishes loud snores which automatically send natural smooth electrical pulses without disturbing your normal sleep. These pulses naturally reposition your body and your jaw for better airflow to help prevent snoring. Replaceable Self-Adhesive Electrode pads are available in 6 or 12 count.

Lose the Light:

Sleep with our exceptional Sleeping Mask. Manifest complete darkness anytime, anywhere. Wear the light-blocking Sleeping Mask when you sleep or nap to block out light and give your body perfect rest. Unlike other masks, the Sleeping Mask is made of high-quality fabrics that prevent the mask from slipping during sleep and is super gentle on even the most delicate skin around the eyes.

Hormone Helper:

Whether your natural melatonin production is low or you’re dealing with stress, you shouldn’t have to drug yourself to get a good night’s rest. Sleep Connection Melatonin Patches deliver a unique combination of calming herbs that gently absorb into the skin to provide you with the deep sleep your body craves.

Calm Comfort:

Create the perfect sleep environment with the Cool Mist Humidifier.  The air in your home may be one of the reasons you may be experiencing problems sleeping. Dry airways produce dry nasal cavities which can contribute to snoring.  The Cool Mist Humidifier quietly releases moisture into the air without increasing the room temperature.  Its sleek, compact, and portable design makes it convenient to carry from room to room and for travel.
